Sachal Vasandani Announces New EP Nothing You Can Do About It – Out September 25
(June 22, 2026) — Acclaimed jazz vocalist Sachal Vasandani is set to release a new EP titled Nothing You Can Do About It on September 25. Featuring contributions from celebrated modern folk artist Valerie June and Grammy-nominated drummer/producer Nate Smith, the EP offers a glimpse into Vasandani’s skillful interpretations, masterful songwriting, and genre-blending spirit.
Nothing You Can Do About It is a 4-song EP about resignation, hidden love, and the strange release that comes when the fight is over. Built around stark visual language, bold typography, and a compact sequence of songs, the project showcases Vasandani’s newest foray into boundary-pushing sounds, expertly merging the harmonic language of modern jazz with the narrative depth of contemporary folk and the rhythmic sensibilities of R&B. Vasandani reunites with Nate Smith, building on the chemistry of their work together on the 2025 full-band release Better Life Now. Smith lends his drumming to all four tracks on Nothing You Can Do About It, in addition to co-producing the EP’s two singles, Something About Us and Tyrannosaur.
Vasandani’s ability to create a sound that is both familiar and innovative is front-and-center on Something About Us, a laid-back, jazz-infused cover of the song by electronic duo Daft Punk. The follow up single, Tyrannosaur, is a re-imagination of the track as a duet with Valerie June, uniting Vasandani’s sophisticated jazz phrasing with June’s raw, folk-inflected delivery. The result is an introspective jazz/folk/pop crossover track focused on themes of love and longing.
With this release, Vasandani invites listeners to shake off the rigidity playing by the rules, and explore the beauty that exists in the blurry spaces on the fringes of new sounds.
Nothing You Can Do About It will be available on all digital platforms September 25.
