BIO

Marcella Simien, daughter of two-time GRAMMY™ award-winning Zydeco luminary Terrance Simien, is wielding the torch of a veritable Creole dynasty blending elements of Zydeco, Psychedelic Soul, Folk and Blues. Simien founded Marcella & Her Lovers, a hybrid of classic Memphis soul with the freewheeling swagger of New Orleans funk. Simien's first full-length debut "Got You Found" with Marcella & Her Lovers, received critical acclaim. In 2021, they dropped "Live From Memphis," capturing the band's electric performance in the heart of Memphis in 2020. In 2023 Marcella dropped her latest solo single "SOUND".

Simien has deepened her work as a teacher while touring in South America, where she headlined shows throughout Colombia and led educational workshops on artistic development, songwriting, yoga, and breathwork geared toward performing artists. On August 2024 Marcella released her newest album ANAHATA: Live at The Green Room.
