NEWS
Los Angeles, CA (January 5, 2024) – Psychedelic Panamanian band Making Movies are kicking off the new year with the release of their first concert film and live album titled En La Sala. The album features live performances recorded on January 27, 2023, at the historic Folly Theater in Kansas City. Making Movies invited a small group of friends and family to join them on stage and be part of the intimate recording.
Los Angeles, CA (November 3, 2023) – Today, Latin Grammy nominated band Making Movies releases the music video for their latest single “Medicina.” “Medicina” is an anthemic, cumbia cut that immediately grabs you as soon as you hear the opening distorted guitar riff. This is the first release since the band’s 2022 album XOPA. The song “Medicina” and the band’s story is featured in a film produced by Univision in partnership with Chevrolet.
Memphis’ Qemist and Marcella Simien team up for one of the most beautiful singles I’ve heard this year on “Daytime Dreams”.
(Kansas City, MO – August 14, 2023) – Latin Grammy nominated band Making Movies curates Celebrate AMERI’KANA, a music and arts festival that celebrates the Black, Indigenous, Latino, and Immigrant heroes of American music. New York, NY (June 8, 2022) - Today, Panamanian rock'n'roll band Making Movies shares their latest single and video “XOPA,” the title-track from their forthcoming album, due June 17 via Cosmica Artists.
The William J. Stribling directed video will be featured at the Dances With Films festival in Los Angeles this Friday, June 10 at 5pm. The fictional film conveys an overly-confident version of the band as they travel by private plane while on tour, when suddenly they’re cosmically punished for their hubris as the airplane goes down and crashes in the desert. But instead of burning with the wreckage, they rise from the ashes and live to tell the tale. Como ave de mal agüero, nunca morire. Viajero sin ruta o puerto nunca morire.
New York, NY (April 13, 2022) - Today, Afro-Latino rock group Making Movies shares their latest single “Sala De Los Pecadores.” The track is accompanied by an immersive video, directed by William J Stribling - watch/share via YouTube. “Sala De Los Pecadores” comes from their forthcoming album XOPA due June 17 via Cosmica Artists.
Luke Winslow-King upcoming new album If These Walls These Talk (due out May 6, 2022) solidifies his ability to mold his surroundings and influences into a unified sound that is uniquely his own; bitter but sweet, soulful, inclusive, and comforting. Winslow-King’s work is an eclectic mix that combines delta blues, folk music, traditional jazz, and roots rock & roll and his upcoming album is a testament of that.
Afro-Latino rock group Making Movies announces the June 17 release of XOPA via Cosmica Artists and has shared the first single and video “Calor.” Watch/share “Calor” via YouTube.
Luke Winslow King has released a third single, ‘Love at First Sight', from his upcoming seventh full-length album “If These Walls Could Talk.” The song features legendary organist Rev. Charles Hodges of Al Green’s legendary band. King will begin his Spring/Summer tour in Florida on May 13, then route up through the midwest and back down throughout the southeast. Additional dates are forthcoming.
